Morning has come all too quickly.... but once again there was a feast prepared for breakfast at Whitesands! I can't even begin to list the options there were! I choose a omelet with sauteed garlic, then fresh diced tomatoes, onions and green peppers over top of it, plus a crepe over stuffed with fresh diced, juicy mangoes! A glass of fresh squeezed passion fruit juice - and I was good to go!
The sky was overcast which helped us stay cool as we traveled back to Nairobi - a seven hour drive! The roads are pretty good, with just a few hiccups every now and again. I have been holding my breath though.... because tomorrow is my birthday and I have a history of "what can go wrong will go wrong" around my birthday. We were just a couple hours out of Nairobi when the vehicle started making a clicking type noise on the back wheels. Kamunge thought it was the breaks so we stopped and checked, but could not figure it out, so got back in and kept going. The sound got worse the closer we got to Nairobi, so Kamunge dropped me off at Lenana House in Hurlingham where I am staying for the night and headed out to see if he could figure out what was the matter with the vehicle. Am glad there are back up vehicle options as tomorrow we have to be on the road early again - heading to the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
I spent the later afternoon in my room eating a large avocado and a melted cadbury bar! It has been raining hard this afternoon and the weather is quite cold compared to Mombasa. Am looking forward to a hot shower to warm up.... as I forgot my hoodie in the truck.
Hope your Sabbath was a good one! Sabato njema (Happy Sabbath) to all of you! Thanks for your prayers and for your love! Couldn't do this without that!
Kamunge called and said the mechanic checked the vehicle and all it was was an overload of dust and dirt in the break area.... so he has headed home to his family for a homemade supper and a good night of sleep. Am thankful that all is well!
